Legal Studies Programs in Criminal JusticeThe current system that we live in is tightly bound by legislations translating into laws interpreted by courts and solicitors. For those interested in careers in law, there is a menu of choices to specialize or choose from. Supporting courts and solicitors are legal services professionals who provide backend legal support through extensive research and preparation of documents and cases. They schedule meetings, talk to clients, take notes, prepare documentation and provide basic legal advice. Answering phones and returning calls is also one of their responsibilities. Education programs abound in the legal field spanning Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees. A Bachelor’s degree usually takes around 3-4 years to complete whereas an Associate degree takes about 2 years. Qualifications can also be acquired through campus and online modes. After completing required formal education, a state bar exam needs to be taken and passed through successfully for practicing as a licensed lawyer. Individuals who have a passion for law and have a legal bent of mind will find careers in legal services their cup of tea. Careers span roles of paralegals, legal assistants and legal transcriptionists (apart from solicitors) who provide basic legal services to their clientele. Moreover, projections indicate that growth will be positive in the legal industry especially for paralegals and legal assistants. In fact, this class of legal services provides low cost legal support and is being favored more by social service agencies and legal clinics when dealing with low income clients. Median annual salaries of paralegals and legal assistants were $47,600 in 2007. ITT Technical Institute and American InterContinental University focus on quality education that place dreams of students within their reach through real world education. Walden and Kaplan Universities have strong academic credentials and their programs equal those of others. Westwood College’s programs help launch the careers that students desire.
